Ingredients for Creamy Papaya Pineapple Popsicles

  • Papaya: Use fresh, ripe papaya for the best natural sweetness and flavor. Not sure how to pick one? Martha Stewart’s guide on choosing ripe papaya is super helpful.
  • Pineapple: Fresh is ideal, but canned (in juice) works if you’re in a pinch.
  • Evaporated Milk: Adds a rich, creamy texture.
  • Coconut Milk: Go for full-fat for that smooth, tropical feel.
  • Vanilla Extract: Just a splash brings out the fruit’s flavor.
  • Cinnamon: A small pinch gives a warm, subtle spice.

Easy Variations to Try

  • Kiwi & Papaya Pops: Swap the pineapple for kiwi for a bright, tangy twist. Check out my full Kiwi and Papaya Popsicles recipe.
  • Berry Blend: Swap half the papaya for strawberries for a creamy, tangy twist. I loved it so much, I turned it into its own recipe. Have a look at my creamy Papaya Strawberry Popsicles recipe.
  • Dairy-Free: Use all coconut milk or mix with almond milk instead of evaporated milk.
  • Chunky Style: Stir in chopped fruit after blending for little bites in every pop.
  • Extra Sweet: Add a bit of honey or maple syrup if your fruit isn’t super ripe.

Keesha’s Tips & Tricks

  • No Mold? No Stress: I’ve used everything from small paper cups to shot glasses when molds are already in use. Just cover with foil and poke the sticks through.
  • Taste the Mix First: After blending, I always taste the mixture before pouring. If the fruit wasn’t super sweet, I’ll add a little honey to bring it to life.
  • Tap Out the Air Bubbles: After pouring into molds, I give them a gentle tap on the counter. It helps everything freeze evenly and look smoother.

Storage Advice

Once frozen, these popsicles will keep well in the freezer for up to 3 weeks. Store them in their molds or transfer to a freezer-safe bag with parchment between each to prevent sticking.

FAQs about Papaya Pineapple Popsicles

They should be totally solid and come out clean from the mold. If they’re sticking, just run warm water over the outside for a few seconds.

If your popsicles turn out icy, the fruit may not have been sweet or ripe enough, or the mix wasn’t blended fully. You can add a bit more sweetener or a touch of banana to make them creamier next time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ripe papaya (cubed)
  • cups pineapple (sliced)
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  • First, prep your fruit by peeling, slicing, and measuring out the papaya and pineapple. Make sure both are ripe. This brings out the natural sweetness and rich flavor.
  • Next, add the papaya, pineapple, evaporated milk, coconut milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of cinnamon to a blender.
  • Then, blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you'd like your popsicles a little sweeter, feel free to taste and add a drizzle of honey or agave syrup, but usually, the fruit does all the work.
  • Finally, pour the mixture into your popsicle molds, leaving just a little space at the top for expansion.
  • Gently tap the molds on the counter to remove air bubbles, then insert the sticks.
  • Freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight, until completely solid.
  • To release the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds and gently pull them out.
