Homemade Kiwi And Papaya Popsicles

These creamy papaya kiwi popsicles are one of my favorite ways to enjoy tropical fruit. The flavor is fresh and fruity, and the texture is perfectly smooth straight from the freezer.

Ingredients for Creamy Papaya Kiwi Popsicles

  • Papaya: Use ripe papaya for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Kiwi: Go for soft, ripe kiwis. They add a nice tangy kick.
  • Evaporated Milk: Makes the popsicles rich and creamy.
  • Almond Milk: Lightens the texture and blends well with the fruit.
  • Vanilla Extract: Just a little adds warmth and combines all the flavors.

Variations To Try

  • Dairy-Free Swap: Use full-fat coconut milk instead of evaporated milk.
  • Swirl It: Blend papaya and kiwi separately and layer for a pretty, fun look.
  • Mix in Mango: Add a few mango chunks for extra fruity flavor.

Keesha’s Tips & Tricks

  • Use Ripe Fruit: Soft, juicy papaya and kiwi make all the difference. The riper they are, the sweeter and more flavorful your popsicles will be. No extra sugar needed.
  • Chill the Mixture Before Freezing: I chill the blended mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes. It helps the popsicles freeze faster and a bit smoother.
  • Use Popsicle Molds with a Lid: Especially if you’re making these ahead for guests, a mold with a lid keeps things neat and helps the sticks stay centered.
  • Run Warm Water to Release Pops: Don’t pull on the sticks! Just run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds and they’ll slide out perfectly.

Storage Advice

Once frozen, you can remove the popsicles from the molds and store them in a freezer-safe container or zip-top bag. For the best flavor and texture, enjoy them within two weeks. I like to separate them with parchment paper so they don’t stick together when guests grab one.

FAQs about Creamy Papaya Kiwi Popsicles

Yes, definitely! I’ve done it plenty of times when fresh papaya or kiwi wasn’t on hand. Just let the fruit thaw a bit before blending so it’s easier on your blender and gives a smoother texture.

You can use small paper cups or plastic cups just as easily. Pour in the mixture, cover the tops with foil, and poke popsicle sticks through the center. The foil helps keep the sticks upright while freezing. Once they’re solid, just peel away the cup and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups papaya
  • 1 ½ cups kiwi
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • First, gather and prepare your fruit. Slice the papaya and kiwi, removing any seeds or tough skin. The riper the fruit, the sweeter and more flavorful your popsicles will be.
  • Next, add the papaya, kiwi, evaporated milk, almond milk, and vanilla extract to a blender.
  • Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. It should have a thick, velvety texture and a golden-green hue from the fruit.
  • Then, carefully pour the blended mixture into popsicle molds. Tap the molds gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
  • Insert the popsicle sticks and place them in the freezer.
  • Finally, freeze the popsicles for at least 6 hours, or overnight if you can.
  • When you're ready to enjoy, run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds to help release them with ease.
