HOW DO I MAKE HONEY BALSAMIC CHICKEN BREAST IN THE AIR FRYER?

One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is my air fryer! It is handy for quick cooking, and everything turns out perfectly. Fries are crisp, brownies are soft and gooey, and chicken emerges tender and caramelized.

Since I bought my air fryer, I find that I use my oven less, especially as it takes time to preheat AND cook when I can put food on the table in a fraction of the time with an air fryer.

So, if you’ve been struggling to find inspiration for air fryer dinner ideas, then my honey balsamic chicken breast recipe is perfect for you. It’s quick and effortless, not to mention delicious and moist! It is the meal for you to get back into the swing of air frying.

So, how do you make my honey balsamic chicken breast in the air fryer? What makes this recipe so great for a weeknight with NO prep clean-up?

You marinate the chicken in a plastic zip-lock bag.

Here’s what you do:

Mix in a small bowl, the balsamic vinegar, honey, olive oil, rosemary, mustard, lemon, salt and pepper. Then add the chicken into a zip-lock bag and add the marinade.

Tightly seal the bag and massage the marinade around the chicken, then place it in the fridge for a couple of hours to absorb the flavors.

Line your air fryer basket with baking paper or with cooking spray. Put the chicken it in the air fryer, spritz the top of the chicken with the left over marinade, and set the timer and cook for 10 minutes. Turn the chicken and cook for another 10 minutes. All done!

Then cut the chicken breast into thick slices, serve with some roasted potatoes, vegetables, or a salad on the side.

This recipe is perfect for a mid-week meal because it’s so quick and easy to make. The chicken breast is succulent and cooked to perfection, while the honey balsamic glaze gives it a lovely sweetness and tang.

Side dishes

Delicious green salad:

A fresh salad is always a great combination with balsamic chicken. Simply wash and chop some lettuce, add cherry tomatoes cucumber, bell pepper, avocado (if you like), and any other vegetables that take your fancy. Serve with lemon-vinegar dressing.

Baked potatoes wedges:

Preheat your oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Cut potatoes into wedges, spray with cooking oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake for around 25 minutes until golden brown. Serve with ketchup, sour cream, or yogurt and chives.

Honey Balsamic Chicken Tip #1: If you’re feeling adventurous, you can pour the leftover marinade into a saucepan and bring it to a boil to serve as a sticky sauce with your chicken.

Honey Balsamic Chicken Tip #2: Remember to place your chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket so the heat can circulate the meat, therefore cooking it quickly.

CAN I PREPARE IT IN ADVANCE?

Absolutely!

Marinating: The marinade needs at least 2 hours to soak the chicken. So if you have time earlier in the day or the day before, the chicken can sit in the zip-lock bag of marinade for 24 hours in the fridge.

Cooking: If you would like to cook the chicken in advance, this recipe will be delicious as a cold picnic lunch with bread and salad. However, it is best to eat it straight from the air fryer for a hot dinner while it’s juicy and caramelized.

Now there is no need to wrack your brains for a quick, easy and delicious dinner! My honey balsamic chicken breast recipe is effortless to make, succulent and sweet, and an opportunity for you to brush off your air fryer again!

  1. Hello!
I have a question. My air fryer has the setting for air fry and, also, bake. In your instructions it says bake it, is this the setting I should choose?

    1. Hi Irina,
That’s a great question! It depends on your air fryer, but I would suggest leaving it on air fry mode, which should be the standard setting and usually provides the best results.
      Many thanks,
      K
