Ingredients

Rolled Oats Recipe

  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 cups ice cubes, optional
  • 1/3 cup lime juice or 3 limes

Oatmeal Recipe

  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2-3 lemons, juiced
  • Ice cubes, optional

Instructions

Rolled Oats Recipe

  • To start, you can combine the milk and oats in a blender. On a high speed, blend these ingredients for 3 minutes or until you have a uniformly smooth creamy mixture.
  • If you'd like to, you can now run this liquid through a sieve to remove any solids. Whether or not you do this comes down to personal preference.
  • Next, add the sugar to your blended oat liquid and mix it well. You can adjust the level of sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
  • Once you have made the base, you can chill the liquid in the fridge for a few hours. The mixture should be as cold as it can be. If it isn't, your drink will curdle when you add the lime juice.
  • Once your liquid is cold, pour the chilled oat liquid into ice-filled glasses. Then, slowly pour in your lime juice while mixing constantly.
  • Serve your Juge de Avena drink immediately while it is still cold and fresh. As it heats up, it will start curdling.

Oatmeal Recipe

  • To make this version of Jugo de Avena, you don't have to blend the oatmeal. Just combine the oatmeal, evaporated milk, milk, vanilla, and sugar in a large bowl or jug. Whisk them together well.
  • Again, place the mixture inside the fridge so that it can cool and thicken. Allow it to rest for a couple of hours. Take it out and run the mixture through a sieve.
  • Finally, slowly pour the lemon juice inside the chilled drink and whisk continuously.
  • Pour your oat and evaporated milk drink into an ice-filled glass. Serve it immediately while it's still cold.
