Easy baked French toast cooked in the oven, soft on the inside and caramelized on the outside, a perfect crowd pleaser covered in caramel sauce, and delicious served with maple syrup and strawberries!
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, cardamon, cinnamon, and vanilla. Then set aside.
Cut the baguette into 2-inch / 5 cm slices.
In a large flat baking dish, pour in half of the egg mixture and add the bread in a single layer, then add the rest of the egg mixture over the bread and turn it once. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes in the fridge or until all the custard is absorbed.
Bake it covered in aluminum foil for 15 minutes, and in the meantime prepare the caramel sauce. Take a small bowl and add the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
Take the French toast out of the oven, remove the foil and drizzle the caramel sauce over the top. Bake it uncovered for 10 more minutes or until golden.
